Putting on compression wear can take a bit of practice, especially if the garment fits snugly (as it should). Here are a few tips to make it easier:
- Start with dry skin to reduce slipping and improve grip
- Turn the garment inside out up to the area that covers the heel, elbow, or relevant joint
- Slide the limb in carefully, then roll or pull the garment up slowly
- Smooth out any wrinkles to ensure even compression and avoid pressure points
- Use tools like a stocking donner, rubber gloves, or grip pads if mobility is limited or the fabric is hard to handle
If you struggle with application, we’re happy to show you techniques during a fitting, either in person or virtually.
